Senior Advocate Mba Ukweni from Nigeria has encouraged people not to demonize the judiciary.

Mr. Ukweni made the call during an interview on Thursday in Calabar.

Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, as well as their supporters, attacked the legal system after President Bola Tinubu was declared the winner of the presidential election held on February 25. Judges were accused of engaging in dishonest behavior and corruption.

The legal expert asserted that the law and the evidence considered by the tribunal judges served as the cornerstones on which the judges based their rulings and judgments.

Those who are dissatisfied can appeal to the Supreme Court, the senior counsel noted.

“I don’t like it when the judiciary is chastised for its work to the point of being intimidated. According to Mr. Ukweni, the judiciary in this country has gone through a lot of suffering. There has been excessive influence with the judiciary, which is meant to be unbiased and apart from the other branches of the government.

He added, “Judges are not perfect. God is the only one who exists. As a result, the people should be patient with the justice system.

Strong institutions are needed in Nigeria, Mr. Ukweni continued.
