Legendary Argentine football player Lionel Messi has stated that he is done playing in Europe and has no intention of joining another European team.

After leaving the Argentine team Newell’s Old Boys in 2000, Messi moved to FC Barcelona in Europe, where they managed his growth through their esteemed La Masia football program.

After passing the requirements to join FC Barcelona’s senior squad in 2004, he has been an unstoppable force in the game.

Lionel Messi won a club record 34 championships before moving from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2021. These included ten La Liga wins, seven Copa del Rey victories, and four UEFA Champions League titles.

Messi, who is presently 36 years old, assisted PSG in winning the league title twice and the Trophée des Champions once, despite being jeered at the team.

In July 2023, Messi moved from European club football to the United States’ Major League Soccer (MLS), where he is currently a player for Inter Miami, a team that English football icon David Beckham co-owns.

Lionel Messi made football history on Monday, October 30, when he won the Ballon d’Or an unprecedented eight times. After leading Argentina to victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, he accomplished this milestone.

He said, “Is European football closed for you? Yes. Thanks to God, I had an extraordinary career in Europe and won everything I have dreamed of”.

“Now that I have decided to come to the USA, I don’t think I will ever return to playing in Europe”.
