Tanzanian musician Zuchu was born Zuhura Othman Soud on November 22, 1993. The talented singer was raised in a musical family in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She performs in the R&B, Afro-pop, and Bongo Flava genres. The “Wana” hitmaker is new to the business, but she has already made significant progress.
Zuchu attended a residential school for her primary education. Later, she enrolled in high school to finish her secondary education. She intended to go to college and study law after she passed her final exams, but her mother persuaded her to pursue a career in music instead.
She is the offspring of prominent female Taarab musician Khadija Kopa. Early on, Zuchu showed a talent for singing, and she and her mother co-wrote the song Mauzauza for her debut EP, “I Am Zuchu,” which was published on April 19, 2020 and featured seven songs.
Early in 2015, Zuchu started her career by competing in Nigeria’s initial edition of TECNO OWN THE STAGE.
She joined WCB Wasafi records in the beginning of April 2020, marking her official entry into the music business. Since then, she has released a string of hit singles, including Hakuna Kulala, Nisamehe, Raha, Sukari, Hasara, Ashua ft. Mbosso, Cheche ft. Diamond Platinumz, Nobody ft. Joe Boy, and Number One ft. Rayvanny, which have propelled her to the top of the East African charts.
She became the first female in East Africa to reach 1 million followers in a week, earning her a Silver Plaque Button from YouTube. Her commitment, effort, and passion for delivering excellent music have been recognized. She did, however, get the AFRIMMA Emerging Artist Award in 2020.
She has a number of sponsorships, including Tridea Cosmetics ambassador and Tourism Ambassador for Zanzibar in 2021.
