Yul Edochie, the actor-turned-politician, has announced that he is suspending his presidential campaign ahead of the 2023 general elections, eliciting conflicting comments online.
Though the actor predicated his decision on his party’s ability to win a presidential election, his decision was affected by the candidacy of political gladiators Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress.
“I WANTED TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT WITH APGA,” the actor wrote on Twitter. AFTER A SERIES OF CONSULTATIONS AND MEETINGS.
“WE STOOD UP AND PERFORMED OUR EVALUATIONS. WE EMBRACED FACTS AND LEFT SENTIMENTS BEHIND. OUR PARTY IS GOOD, BUT IT DOESN’T HAVE THE CAPACITY TO WIN A PRESIDENTIAL SEAT AT THIS TIME. AS A RESULT, I DID NOT MOVE ANY FURTHER.”
@Bara “We know you’re terrified,” James responded. Atiku and Tinubu’s worry…”
“You can’t even win a local government election, let alone defeat Atiku and Tinubu,” says @Loveth Isaac.
