Famous artists Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid have lost their Twitter verification badges after failing to follow new regulations instituted by CEO Elon Musk.
Remember that in 2022, Twitter planned to start charging users $8 per month for verification as part of a premium service led by Musk. According to The Verge, which cites internal communications and sources, the $4.99 per month Twitter Blue premium subscription is also set to rise to $19.99.
On October 30, 2022, Musk revealed that the certification process would be completely overhauled. Failure to follow Musk’s standards resulted in the loss of verification, which distinguished a celebrity’s page from that of an ordinary user.
As Musk predicted, Twitter has begun to deactivate celebrities and public figures’ verification badges. Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid are among those that disobeyed the new guidelines and lost their verification badges. A quick look at their Twitter sites reveals that the badges are absent.
Elon Musk’s new Twitter regulations are generating a stir in the social media world. The loss of verification badges for celebrities like as Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid has prompted questions about Twitter’s future direction and capacity to retain its user base.
Beyonce, Cristiano Ronaldo, and other renowned celebrities, in addition to Davido, Burna, and Wizkid, have lost their verification badges.
