All Progressive Congress (APC) leader Tony Okocha said the party would welcome Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike if he decided to join the APC.

Okocha reiterated Wike’s role in ensuring APC candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu wins the 2023 presidential election.

According to him, if the Governor wants to get rid of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he can join the APC.

“Today, Governor Wike is one of those who helped bring our President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the throne. If Governor Wike wants to come to the All Progressives Congress, we’ll welcome him. But one thing is clear, I don’t think Nigeria wants to be a one-party state,” Okocha said when speaking to reporters in Port Harcourt yesterday.

Going further, the APC leader said, while not apologizing to the Governor of Rivers, Wike has made great strides in terms of infrastructure development in Rivers state.

“I’m not one to apologize to Governor Wike,” Okocha said, “but when it comes to physical infrastructure development in Rivers State, Governor Wike is the best.”

He added that the APC’s gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 election, Tonye Cole, did not contribute financially to the party’s presidential campaign in the state.
