Divine Ikubor, often known as Rema, is a well-known Afrobeats musician who just announced his decision to withdraw from the University of Lagos.

The singer of “Calm Down” claimed in a recent interview that the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ eight-month strike forced him to decline his admission (ASUU).

Rema revealed this in a radio appearance with Kiss FM, where he claimed to have moved on and told his mother of his choice.

Remember how Rema announced on Twitter in January 2022 that he had been accepted into UNILAG?

The singer of “Holiday” claimed that his mother told him it was crucial for him to earn a bachelor’s degree. As he tweeted:

“What if I told y’all I got an admission into Unilag? Lol Mom said I still need to get a degree sigh, oh well see you guys in class!.”

Rema explained why he never returned to his higher education classes by saying that the strike interfered with his aspirations to pursue music and part-time education.

He continued by saying that, despite her early opposition, his mother now supports his decision to concentrate on music.
