Sierra Leone defender Osman Kakay believes his side is well prepared for Thursday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria.

The Leone Stars excelled at the 2021 AFCON finals in Cameroon, their first appearance since the 1996 tournament in South Africa.

Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau, and Sao Tome and Principe are in Group A of the qualifiers, and John Keister’s players are looking forward to returning to the biannual tournament.

The West Africans will begin their bid for a place in Cote d’Ivoire 2023 with an away encounter at Abuja’s Moshood Abiola Stadium against the Super Eagles.

The Sierra Leone Stars arrived in Abuja on Sunday and have been preparing game plans since then.

According to Kakay, the players are in great spirits and are looking forward to meeting the Super Eagles.

“The players are in good spirits, and we’re preparing for our games against Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau.” “There have been stories that distort what I’ve said, but as a professional footballer, I respect every opponent I face,” the QPR defender said in a short video posted to the Sierra Leone Football Association’s Twitter account.

“Hopefully, I and the team can go out there and put our hearts and souls on the line for Sierra Leone, giving the fans what they want back home.”
