“We are all keeping quiet and listening to Asake”- ‘Stray shots’ hit Asake as Dorcas Fapson cries out over rising exchange rate
Dorcas Shola Fapson, a DJ and actress, cited the British Pound as a reference, remarking that £1 is currently worth roughly #900.
She went on to remark that nobody seemed to be bothered by the situation on the ground since Nigerians tend to be more interested in singing Asake’s songs, the current music rage. Dorcas Fapson wrote:
“POUND IS GOING TO N900 / £1. WE ARE ALL KEEPING QUIET AND LISTENING TO ASAKE.
CONTINUE.”
Asake rose to prominence in 2020 after releasing Magicsticks, which was produced by Mr Money.
Asake’s debut EP, Ololade Asake, contains four successful songs: ‘Omo Ope,’ ‘Sungba,’ ‘Trabaye,’ and ‘Baba God.’ In February 2022, he performed ‘Baba God’ during a Glitch Africa live session.
The YBNL signee collaborated with Grammy Award winner Burna Boy on a remix of ‘Sungba.’ On March 28, 2022, the song was released and spent several weeks at the top of the music charts.
