Dino Melaye, a former senator from Kogi West, has urged Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for president, to hold off until after the 2023 presidential election.

Obi claimed in a video posted on his verified Twitter page on Thursday that the former governor of Anambra had a strong chance of becoming Nigeria’s president soon.

Melaye claimed that while Obi is one of the best Nigerians and is intellectually nimble and administratively astute, he cannot win the 2023 presidential election.

He claimed that bringing the nation’s ethnic groupings together was more crucial than Obi’s campaign promises to reduce the expense of government.

According to him, Peter Obi is one of the best Nigerians. He is administratively astute and intellectually adaptable. He is a fantastic Nigerian and has a great chance of becoming Nigeria’s president soon.

“I honor your movement and I honor you, Peter Obi. I applaud your efforts to raise public and youth awareness of governance in Nigeria.

However, I want to advise you that your time is not now since you must wait for it. I’ve heard what you have to say. I’ve listened to your arguments, presentations, and campaigns, and 90% of them are focused on lowering the expense of government.

“The issue facing this nation goes beyond simply reducing the cost of governing… Before you can reduce the cost of governance, you do not need to become a government. You can reduce governance with the operation of the president if you have an extremely effective minister of finance, budget, and planning, CBN governor, and chairman of the economic team.

“In order to move forward, Nigeria must be united. The nation is so polarized. Between the North and the South, there is no trust.
