In a lengthy Instagram post, Uche claimed that his family warned him not to marry again, but Yul ignored them.

“Hello there, gentlemen. So, my younger brother, Yul Edochie, unexpectedly married a second bride, and Nigerians are freaking out. I understand. We’re all stunned. I’m a low-key guy who has tried to keep my head down, but this circus is following me around as well. So here’s my view on it.

I see two major issues here. Mary, his first wife, and my sister-in-law did not enter into a relationship with my brother because she did not want to be a part of a polygamous marriage. That is the first issue. So I sympathize with Mary. It isn’t even close to being fair to her. My family is not on board. We don’t do things like this, and we’re doing our best to console Mary. What other options do we have?

The second concern is Yul’s non-Muslim status. No one would be talking about this if he was a Muslim. Nobody says anything when Muslims marry as many wives as they wish. Traditional rulers and traditionalists do the same thing, and polygamy is recognized as a legitimate marital union in Nigeria under the Nigerian constitution. Perhaps we should set fire to that bloody constitution.

We told Yul not to do it. He did it anyway. Have you ever tried controlling an adult when it comes to relationships? Good luck with that. Yul is an adult who feels marrying a second woman is the best way to own up to his mistakes and make things right. It took a lot of courage for him to do this too.

When a Muslim marries two or more wives, his community throws a celebration. It’s perfectly natural. When a Christian does the same thing, he is the worst person on the planet. It’s a challenge. Women fling themselves at celebrities in such a way that they suffocate them. If the ordinary individual walked in Yul’s shoes for a year, they would become pregnant with five or more women. So, if you haven’t lived that life, don’t pass judgment. The majority of people will fare far worse.

So this is Yul’s new baby with his new wife. Beautiful boy. Children are a gift from God. It is the circumstances of their birth that gets us all riled up about what’s right and wrong. I wish them all luck. Maybe Yul should become a Muslim and shut this circus down. It is said that life is what happens when we are making other plans. I was minding my own business. And now this. Fantastic.”
