Timi Frank, a former APC deputy national publicity secretary, has urged Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the national chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to immediately resign from his position.

In a statement released on Monday, Frank also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take the appropriate action and remove him from office if he does not step down for holding the worst-ever stolen election in Nigerian history.

He claimed that Nigerians’ complete lack of faith in him made the call necessary.

“We are supposed to be the light and the example in Africa, but with the appalling behavior of INEC and its officials during the most recent Presidential and National Assembly elections, other countries on the continent absolutely have nothing to learn from us because of what Yakubu and INEC have done,” Frank observed.

Thus, he urged Buhari to have the guts to fire Yakubu for bringing shame and disgrace upon the nation by announcing extremely tainted and severely manipulated results as the outcome of the recently held presidential and national assembly elections.

Frank claimed that Yakubu’s handling of the election fell short of the standards for credibility and transparency set by the world community, and that all allies of Nigeria must therefore condemn it.

He argued that despite an overwhelming amount of evidence showing that the Presidential and National Assembly elections were rigged and manipulated, Yakubu went on and declared the APC’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the victor.

“Nigerians have lost faith in Yakubu,” Frank continued. His claims and pledges are meaningless. He has re-established himself by pledging free and fair elections for the governorship and state legislature, but Nigerians are not nave; they are aware that he will do the exact opposite.

“Prof. Yakubu has demonstrated that he is a moral embarrassment to Nigeria and has made Nigerians ashamed, disgraced, and embarrassed around the world. Nigeria is currently a laughing stock in the world community.
