The Names and Faces of the Victims of the Owo Catholic Church Massacre

The identities and images of some of the victims who were in church when gunmen opened fire at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, have been released.

On Sunday, June 5, 2022, unknown gunmen stormed the catholic church, tossing bombs and shooting several worshippers to death, according to SOLOLOADED.

In a video published on social media, it was revealed that no fewer than 30 worshippers were killed by the explosives, which were either shot or killed by the explosives.

Below are some of the victims of the attack, as compiled by BBC Pidgin.

Caroline Agboola

Caroline Agboola was one of those who perished as a result of the incident.

Prior to her death, her daughter revealed that she was an Akara vendor.

Her husband had died several years before.

Veginus Nwani

During the incident, Mr. Veginus Ani and his daughter Chidiogo died.

His first son was present, but unhurt, in the church.

Mr. Veginus’s son took his younger sister, who was still alive at the time of the shooting, to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Chidiogo Nwani

Chidiogo Nwani died alongside her father, Veginus Nwanie. She was eleven years old.

Umunna

During the Sunday shooting, Umunna and his kid were killed by bullets.

The father and his son were covered in blood after the gunshot.

He was attempting to shelter his son from the gunmen, according to BBC Pidgin, but they shot both of them.

In Owo, Umunna was claimed to possess an electrical store.

Ozurumba Bridget

Mama Ozurumba Bridget also died during the attack.

Her son is currently in the hospital battling for his life after the attack.

Her son was inside church with his mother when the incident happened, she died during the attack.
