“Thank God for salvation”, other reactions trail throwback video of Mercy Chinwo performing Fela’s ‘Zombie’

Several people have been amazed by a vintage video of Mercy Chinwo, a well-known gospel singer, singing the hit song “Zombie” by Fela Kuti on the stage of Nigerian Idol.

In the video, Mercy Chinwo was introduced on stage in a box, which was then opened to reveal a dynamic performance that wowed the judges and audience alike.

Mercy Chinwo presented a passionate performance that unquestionably won over the judges. Femi Kuti, Fela’s eldest son and one of the judges, praised her performance and was also one of the judges.

Nonetheless, the video elicited a variety of responses from people on social media who were astonished to learn that the artist had formerly taken part in the program and even sung a secular song.
