Despite a 2-0 win against Ghana in their final group stage encounter on Friday, December 2, Luis Suarez took a jab at Uruguay’s detractors on Instagram following his country’s elimination from the 2022 World Cup.
Despite a 2-0 victory, Uruguay was knocked out of the World Cup because South Korea defeated Portugal 2-1. The Asian squad finished second in the group, scoring more goals than the South American team.
Suarez, who attacked individuals who criticized his country after their ext, wrote on Instagram:
“Saying goodbye to a World Cup hurts a lot, but we have the peace of mind that we left everything for our country.
“Proud to be URUGUAYAN although they DON’T RESPECT US. Thanks to each of the Uruguayans who supported us in every part of the world!”
