Singer Teni accused of being disrespectful to President Buhari while receiving National award [Video]
Joe Igbokwe, a supporter of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has advised Nigerian parents to provide their children with great training.
On October 12, Igbokwe published the following on Facebook:
“PARENTS, PLEASE TRAIN YOUR CHILDREN VERY WELL. GOOD MORNING.”
On Tuesday, October 11, Teni was given the national distinction of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), and she was charged with disrespecting the president.
Nigerian author, political commentator, and social media maestro Japheth Joshua Omojuwa addressed the subject on Twitter on Wednesday and said he had not yet observed the precise moment that Teni is said to have committed the accused violation.
OMOJUWA TWEETED: “I WATCHED THAT TENI VIDEO SEVERAL TIMES, DESPERATE TO SEE WHEN SHE DISRESPECTED THE PRESIDENT, YET TO SEE IT. “I MUST BE WATCHING THE WRONG VIDEOS.
SOCIAL MEDIA’S CAPACITY TO CREATE A FALSE REALITY IS UNPRECEDENTED. NARRATIVES ARE NOW MORE POWERFUL THAN WHAT PEOPLE SEE.
“WATCHED THE VIDEO AGAIN. TENI STILL HASN’T DISRESPECTED PRESIDENT BUHARI. I WATCHED IT IN SLOW-MO. WILL FAST FORWARD MY NEXT WATCH.”
Teni watched live at the International Conference Center in Abuja on Tuesday, October 11, as President Muhammadu Buhari honored her and other significant figures in the country.
I watched that Teni video several times, desperate to see when she disrespected the president, yet to see it. I must be watching the wrong videos. Social media’s capacity to create a false reality is unprecedented. Narratives are now more powerful than what people see.
