Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has spoken out in response to the arrest of Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti.

Kuti was handcuffed and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau, SCIID, in Panti for further investigation and potentially incarceration.

Recall that Inspector General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali Baba issued an arrest warrant for Kuti a few days ago following his argument with a policeman on the 3rd Mainland Bridge.

Kuti is seen on video assaulting a uniformed police officer.

Given the situation, Sani stated in a tweet on Monday through his account that there is no need to arrest Kuti, who has freely surrendered.

He tweeted, “Even though I’ve been handcuffed for years, there’s no reason to handcuff Seun, who voluntarily surrendered.”
