President Muhammadu Buhari unveiled rice pyramids in Abuja to demonstrate to Nigerians that their country is self-sufficient.

Following the reveal, the price of rice skyrocketed, leading many to suspect it was all a ruse. Some analysts feel the reveal was staged, while others believe the rise in rice prices is part of a larger inflationary trend.

Prior to the unveiling of the pyramids, a video surfaced on social media of a woman waltzing through the pyramids exuding confidence in the strides of Buhari’s administration.

“Everyone should come and see this. This is marvellous. This is wonderful. I have been hearing about it over the last few weeks and today, I am so delighted to see this. This is the good work of President Muhammadu Buhari”

However, immediately after the announcement and revealing, rice vanished from Nigerian marketplaces, and where it was available, the prices were exorbitant.

Others claim that the commodity’s price increase is related to a general inflationary tendency in the country and around the world.
