A Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential election has the endorsement of former presidential advisor Reno Omokri.
Different people have responded differently to the rumors that Bola Tinubu, a presidential contender for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), would be paired with a Muslim.
While religious organizations like the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Catholic Church have rejected the idea that any political party would run a Muslim/Muslim ticket in the 2023 presidential election, some APC chieftains have urged Nigerians to ignore the religion of the party’s presidential candidate and his running mate in their responses.
Omokri urged Nigerians to focus on the qualifications and credibility of the candidate and his running mate rather than their religion in a tweet sent via his verified Twitter handle on Friday.
The former presidential assistant stated that he opposes the current APC not because it chose to run a Muslim-Muslim ticket but more because Tinubu lacks credibility.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, he wrote. A Muslim-Muslim ticket that includes trustworthy individuals is acceptable. Not because of that plan, but rather because Tinubu lacks credibility, I am opposed to the APC. MAKE CREDIBILITY OUR PRIORITY, NOT RELIGION!
