The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in the United States of America and Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), have differed over who should pay for a demonstration against the results of the 2023 election in the park next to the US White House.

Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, was protested against, according to the chairman of the USA APC, Professor Tai Balofin, who also claimed that Tinubu was the winner of a free and fair election.

He continued by stating that anyone can obtain permits for a peaceful protest, thus the United States is not in any way endorsing the demonstration.

The losers of the Nigerian presidential election in 2023 are currently holding a protest in the park in front of the White House, according to Balofin. While anyone can obtain authorisation for a peaceful protest, it is significant to highlight that the US government is not involved in or supporting the demonstration.

“We also want to point out that Peter Obi, who came in last in the Nigerian election, financed this demonstration. We think that Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu won Nigeria’s presidential election because it was free and fair.

“The majority of Nigerian voters gave him their support, and no amount of disinformation, trickery, or deceit can prevent his inauguration.”

In response to the accusations, Obi said he was in no way associated with the protest in a statement released by his campaign spokesman, Dr. Yunusa Tanko. He also encouraged his supporters to maintain calm while he used the legal system to reclaim his mandate.

“There is no presidential candidate who has been in complete control and advising his followers to be calm than Obi and Datti,” Yunusa remarked over the phone to Vanguard. The main issue is that we are dissatisfied with the procedure used to declare Tinubu the next president.

“We have brought up important concerns about the procedure, and the procedure is a component of the democratic procedure. Obi has not incited anyone to take any action; rather, he has advised people to maintain composure and abide by the law. Nonetheless, the Nigerian people have the right to oppose the harm done to them. Nobody is being sponsored.
