Paul Merson, a former player for Arsenal, stated that the decision by Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly to permit Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech to depart Stamford Bridge left him “very astonished.”

Following their resignations as the Technical and Performance Advisor and Chelsea director, respectively, Boehly recently paid gratitude to Granovskaia and Cech.

Roman Abramovich, who was subject to sanctions because of his close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, sold Chelsea to the American tycoon.

In an effort to eradicate all traces of the previous administration, he wasted no time in overhauling the West London club.

According to Merson, who spoke to Sky Sports, “I assumed the people that came in would keep Petr Cech in his position and Marina Granovskaia, who has done a tremendous job at the club.”

You watch over them and keep them there. It is not simple, because trading is not done in sports like basketball and baseball. I am quite surprised those two have left in the manner they have considering this is professional football, he continued.
