Pastor Timothy Olaniyan, the Redeemed Christian Church’s (RCCG) Head of Politics and Governance, insisted over the weekend that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), remained God’s only child and a pastor who could change Nigeria’s governance narrative.

“Money politics in this country has to lead us to where we are now,” Olaniyan remarked, fielding questions from journalists at the first conference of New Era Nigeria, NEN, a political organization aimed to transform the narrative of governance in 20s23.

“People promise the moon and the stars, but at the end of the day, you see them handing out N1000 and N2000 to qualified voters.” You won’t see any of their promises fulfilled after the election, and the individuals who gave them money won’t have access to these well-known politicians.

“It’s past time for our eyes to be opened. We don’t want those baits; instead, we want someone who will make a promise to our children and keep it. If you tell me that education would be free, I want you to get there and make it such that we don’t keep breeding youths with no future.

“As of today, Pastor Yemi Osinbajo is still a child of God, not just a pastor.” Many pastors can choose to perform ceremonies with a human skull while still claiming to be pastors. I’m referring to a divine child.”

Dr. Fatunji Stephen, the movement’s organizer, said in his speech, “Since our independence, we have little or nothing to show for it.” Administrations come and go, and promises are made from time to time, but the story stays the same.

“We can’t criticize them while folding our arms as citizens of this country.” This is what sparked the idea of a New Era Nigeria.
