When Nigerian actress Regina Daniels recently used social media to talk about child labor in Nollywood, the condition of the girl child attracted attention once more.
Following her recent incident with a 14-year-old makeup artist, the 22-year-old called out her coworkers and discussed her experiences in the film industry in a video that was spotted on her Instagram page.
Regina described how she first encountered the young woman on a film shoot.
Regina approached her and she opened up to her about how she was coping with surviving on her own. Regina reminded her of how hazardous the profession might be, especially for young ladies who are anxious to break through.
The actress claimed that when the young woman described her horrible experiences in Nollywood, she took her in and enrolled her in one of the best institutions in Delta.
Regina criticized her coworkers who had previously turned a blind eye to the girl and questioned their sanity. She begged her coworkers to speak out against child labor.
She has vowed to fight against any movie makers that cast young children in their films.
Regina also remembered how, throughout her formative years in Nollywood, her mother and actress Rita Daniels shielded her from being sexually molested by film directors in order to support her point.
She added the caption,
“DISCLAIMER!! This goes to the celebrities and movie producers. Please say NO to child Labour? And keep the industry secure.”
