Haaland Named Premier League Player Of The Season

Norwegian professional footballer Erling Haaland has been named the English Premier League (EPL) Player of the Season.

Naija News reports, Haaland has won the prestigious EPL award for the 2022/23 season after an outstanding performance at Manchester City this season.

Haaland is the EPL’s top scorer this season. He has 52 goals and 9 assists in 51 appearances since joining Man City. He has scored 36 goals in the Premier League this season alone. The 22-year-old has been nominated for this prestigious award alongside team-mate Kevin De Bruyne, Arsenal’s Bukola Saka, Totteham’s Harry Kane and others.

Haaland is now the fourth player to win City’s Player of the Year award, after Kevin De Bruyne, who won the award in the 2019/20 and 2021/22 seasons; Ruben Dias, who won it in 2020/21, and Vincent Kompany, who won it first in 2011/12.

The Norwegian became the winner through a combination of public votes, votes from all 20 club captains and opinions from a panel of football experts.

Haaland beat out seven other contenders, including De Bruyne, Kane, Martin Odegaard, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka and Kieran Trippier.
