Passengers boarding Ethiopian Airlines flights from Nigeria will not be allowed to check in with “Ghana-must-go” baggage, the airline reports.
Ghana-must-go bags, which resemble sacs, are popular load carriers in Nigeria. They come in a variety of hues and sizes, and their cost and durability make them a popular choice among travelers.
According to a letter our source saw on Friday, dated November 24, 2023, and addressed to the Regional Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the prohibition came into force on November 25, 2023.
It noted, “Please be informed that effective November 25, 2023, the usage of Ghana Must Go to travel on our flight is hereby prohibited,” the letter read.
“The use of Ghana Must Go as a means of packing baggage has cost the airlines huge loss and also damaged the conveyor belt system, not only on our flight but also on other foreign airlines, hence the prohibition.”
The airline does, however, permit users to keep using the bags to package their belongings, provided that they are properly wrapped in rectangular hardcover cartons.
