The All Progressives Congress (APC) primary poll has been declared won by Bola Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State.

The Asiwaju of Lagos earned half of the total votes cast to overcome his strongest opponents, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Around 2,322 delegates from across the country gathered in Abuja’s Eagles Square to decide the party’s flagbearer ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Former Rivers State Governor and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo received 292 and 216 votes, respectively, while Tinubu, who also serves as the party’s National Leader, received 1,299 votes.

The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, garnered 140 votes, while the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, obtained 42 votes.

Out of the N100 million nomination forms received, 23 candidates were successfully screened to participate in the primary.

With the current situation, Tinubu will face former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and other party candidates in the impending 2023 elections for the highest political office.
