President of the United States Joe Biden promised that NATO will counter any threats posed by Russia on land, at sea, or in the air. He also declared a considerable strengthening of the US troop posture in Europe.

At the start of a two-day NATO summit in Madrid, Spain, he made this statement.

Speaking with the NATO secretary-general, Biden cited recent troop movements, military sites, and shipments of supplies as examples of how crucial security is while the Russian battle in Ukraine drags on.

The United States and our friends are stepping up and demonstrating that NATO is still as crucial as ever, according to Biden.

He declared that the US would set up a Fifth Army Corps permanent headquarters in Poland, maintain a second rotating brigade of 3,000 soldiers in Romania, increase rotational deployments to the Baltic states, dispatch two more squadrons of F-35 fighter jets to the UK, and station more air defense and other capabilities in Germany and Italy.

Together with our allies, we’ll make sure NATO is prepared to handle challenges from all sides in the land, air, and sea domains, Biden said.
