Napoli’s Scudetto Win Celebration Turns Bloody As Over 200 Fans Sustain Injuries, Man Shot Dead

Residents of Naples have celebrated Napoli’s first Scudetto championship in 33 years to the extreme when dozens of people were injured to varying degrees and one man is believed to have been killed in celebration.

The 33-year-old Napoli locals’ dream came true on Thursday night when Napoli finally won the Italian Serie A title in a very spectacular fashion.

On April 30, Napoli are expected to beat Salernitana to claim their historic feat at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The city of Naples has been redesigned in the colors of the club to celebrate the victory.

Much to their chagrin, Salernitana came back to secure a rare 1-1 draw in front of the ready-to-go Napoli fans. As a result, the victory party has been postponed until Thursday, May 4 at Frioul Stadium when the Blues face Udinese.

Although the match took place away in Udine, thousands of Napoli fans gathered at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to watch the match on the big screen. The match almost ended in a disappointing half, although the defending champion Italy only needed a draw to confirm the championship of the 2022-2023 season.

Udinese scored the opening goal in the 13th minute before Victor Osimhen equalized in the 52nd minute to get the club’s fans to celebrate. The celebrations became more passionate after the final whistle.

In this area, according to La Stampa, more than 200 people spent the night in hospital after suffering stab wounds, firecracker burns and asthma attacks from inhaling firecracker smoke.

Furthermore, a 26-year-old man is believed to have been shot dead in Naples during a night of celebration following Napoli’s third Serie A title win.

According to Corriere della Sera newspaper, it remains unclear whether the bullets were fired as part of football celebrations or as part of criminal activity.

According to the Italian newspaper La Stampa, the victim died after being taken to the hospital and is believed to have links to a local mafia organization.

During the same period, in the southern Italian city, three more people were injured. Reports in Italy confirm that Italian police are investigating all incidents related to the celebration.
