Big Brother Naija season 7 was revealed to have cost over N4.7 billion to create by the show’s creators.

John Ugbe, Chief Executive Officer, MultiChoice Nigeria, revealed this during the award presentation to Josephine Otabor, well known as Phyna, the winner of the “Level Up” edition on Tuesday in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Phyna won the contest and took home the N100 million grand prize.

The top prize includes N50 million, a new Innoson Motors SUV, a trip for two to Dubai, a year’s supply of Pepsi, a cutting-edge phone named Camon 19, a supply of Unik soap, and a supply of Nexus household goods, among other delicious treats.

According to Ugbe, during the performance, more than a billion votes were cast.

He thanked the fans and the media for their continuous support and congratulated the housemates for giving top-notch entertainment throughout the season.

“N4.7 billion was invested into the show, that is the cost of production of the season 7 show, we also had over one billion votes throughout the show.

“Big Brother Naija show is more than just entertainment, it also reflects social and value creation, the show has empowered over 1,200 people, cutting across fashion designers, carpenters, interior decorators, photographers, and more.

“Today, this show contributes significantly to the Nigerian economy,” he said.

The production cost of the show, according to Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content, West Africa Channels, Multichoice Nigeria, was approximately N4.7 billion.

Tejumola asserted that the program had given Nigerians a platform to advance employable skills, create jobs, and achieve their own personal objectives for fame.

She asserted that the Level Up season’s over a billion total votes demonstrated that the show’s audience was totally immersed in top-notch content.
