The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have blamed Queen Elizabeth for causing a “tragic time in African history.”
The South African group then moved on to talk about how British colonization affected other African countries.
They stated that Britain, led by the Royal family, took control of South Africa and that since then, the locals have never reaped the benefits of the land, which has instead been exploited to enrich the British Royal family.
The statement was issued immediately after the death of the British monarch at the age of 96.
“We do not mourn Elizabeth’s death since her death recalls a terrible period in this country’s and Africa’s history,” the statement said.
“If there is actually life and justice after death, may Elizabeth and her ancestors get what they deserve,” the statement reads.
The comment has received widespread attention, and opinions have been mixed.
