The reigning UEFA Champions League champions, Real Madrid are no match for Manchester City, who are in high spirits at the Etihad Stadium in the second leg of the UCL semi-final on Wednesday night.

Real Madrid and Manchester City entered the second leg almost a draw after drawing 1-1 in the first leg at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Unfortunately for coach Carlo Ancelotti when he entered the field with the familiar 4-3-3 formation, Pep Guardiola entered the field with a 3-2-4-1 formation that had a plan that the Italian strategist could not decipher.

Therefore, from the beginning of the match, Manchester City had complete control of the game, but it was not until the 23rd minute that the home team opened the scoring thanks to Bernardo Silva’s goal.

Silva made it 2-1 for Guardiola’s men with a brilliant finish. Walker and Stones worked patiently on the right before De Bruyne passed the ball to Silva. The Portugal international takes a throw-in before parrying Courtois’ left-footed shot.

In the 37th minute, Silva doubled Manchester City’s lead with a shot wide of the post to end the first half with a 3-1 aggregate scoreline.

In the second half, Real Madrid entered the game more but still did not have access to many balls. Thus, Man City still held relative control in the last 45 minutes of the game. As Ancelotti’s men hoped for a comeback, Team defender Militao saved Akanji’s header into the back of the net making the match more difficult for his team.

In the 89th minute, coach Guardiola withdrew Erling Haaland, who was saved by Courtois 3 times, and replaced him with young Brazilian player Álvarez.

Less than three minutes into the game, Álvarez sealed a crushing defeat for Real Madrid with an assist from substitute Phil Foden.

The Manchester City vs Real Madrid double ended 5-1 on aggregate, the perfect revenge for last season’s Champions League semi-final result between the two sides.

On 10 June 2023, Manchester City will try for the second time in three years to win their first Champions League title when they face Inter Milan in Istanbul, Turkey.
