Barcelona president Joan Laporta has provided an update on the club’s chances of keeping winger Ousmane Dembele and midfielder Gavi.

Dembele is free to leave this summer after rejecting down numerous offers from LaLiga giants to extend his contract at Camp Nou.

Gavi, on the other hand, is out of contract next year, and talks over a new deal for the talented 17-year-old Spaniard have stalled.

When reporters asked about Gavi on Sunday, Laporta answered, “We are optimistic.” We obviously want Gavi to remain with Barça.

“We’re about to achieve an agreement.” It’s much more special for us because he [Gavi] is one of our younger members. Gavi is welcome to stay with us. “It’s something the athlete and his agency both want.”

“We made Ousmane a renewal offer,” he said, “and we haven’t heard if he accepted it.”
