At the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, singer Kizz Daniel paid tribute to music great Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

On Wednesday, November 23, the 28-year-old and his music crew paid tribute to Fela during his performance at the international event.

Kizz Daniel paid tribute to the Afrobeat legend by performing one of his hit songs, ‘African Woman,’ on stage while the audience applauded.

In an Instagram post, the artist also included a video of the homage.

The father of two captioned the video:

β€œMAJOR TRIBUTE TO FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI.”

On August 2, 1997, Fela died, leaving followers all around the world in shock.

Kizz Daniel, whose dream of singing at the World Cup was realized on Wednesday, delighted the audience with his hit songs ‘Buga’ and ‘Cough,’ leaving the fans wanting more.

Kizz Daniel also shared clips of his performance at the event on his Instagram page, where he thanked his fans from all over the world. He stated:

β€œAS A NAIJA BOY SAY THANK YOU AFRICA THANK YOU WORLD.”

Kizz Daniel, born Daniel Anidugbe, voiced his wish to sing his hit song ‘Buga’ at the World Cup before being named one of the event’s headliners.

Kizz Daniel stated this in a tweet on June 23 following the debut of the music video, which was an instant success. He stated:

β€œGod I want to perform BUGA for World Cup with a mass choir help me say amen #qatar2022worldcup.”

Other performers at Al Bayt Stadium include American DJ Thomas Wesley, better known as Diplo, who will perform today, November 22, Canadian actress, dancer, and singer Nora Fatehi, who will perform on November 29 after Kizz Daniel, American singer and songwriter Trinidad Cardona, who will perform on December 1, and award-winning DJ Calvin Harris, who will perform on December 10.
