President-elect Bola Tinubu has urged his fellow candidates, including Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party candidate Peter Obi, to join him in building Nigeria a great nation.

Tinubu made this call in his acceptance address after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, pronounced him the winner of Saturday’s presidential election.

The APC candidate reminded the other candidates that Nigeria is the only place they could call home.

“I’d want to take this occasion to appeal to my fellow contenders to allow us to form a team. This is the only country we have. We must work together to develop one country. We’ll collaborate to put damaged pieces back together. We must work for Nigeria’s unity, happiness, and harmony.

“We must not behave like that orchestra without a conductor. We’ve chosen a conductor. Let’s work together.

“My standing out here is to thank Nigerians for choosing me to serve as your president. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“Whether you are BATFIELD, ATIKULATE, OBIDIENT, or KWANKWASIYA, you voted and struggled for a better Nigeria; I applaud you for participating in Democracy.

“Renewed hope has landed in Nigeria; I represent that promise, and with your support, that promise will be accomplished.

“I applaud President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment to Democracy and his wife and the entire family. They are passionate, patriotic, and resolute in their pursuit of the ball.

“You, the progressive governors, have many opportunities to betray the party; despite this, you made it possible for me to triumph. I can not purposely let you down.

“Let us band together; this is our only country.

“Let’s collaborate to produce a symphony to benefit the Nation”.

“To the Youths, I hear you loud and clear; we are going together to improve the country. I will devote my full attention to your education. There will be no more strikes, and education loans will be available. Our universities will have autonomy. I know where it pains; believe me, you will feel the prize for electing me”.

He described Nigeria as a country that “can do it here” after producing miracles in other countries.

“I guarantee I will work with you to make Nigeria a destination of coming home to contribute to the growth of our nation,” he continued.
