Dayo Israel, the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has referred to Peter Obi’s Labour Party followers as “rats.”
The noise created by his fans on social media, he claimed, did not pose a danger to the APC youth wing.
Israel stated this during the inauguration of the national task force for the registration and revalidation of youth and student support groups on Wednesday in Abuja, which took place at the party secretariat.
The task force’s mandate, according to the youth leader, is to coordinate the process of registering and revalidating all youth and student support groups into a recognizable structure in line with the goals and strategic imperatives of the party’s National Working Committee.
Israel added that interested parties would be able to register online and submit all pertinent documents and information needed for the revalidation exercise from the comfort of their homes, streamlining the submission procedure and enabling simple access, sorting, and verification.
Israel emphasized, “A lion is not worried by the noise of a rodent in its backyard,” in response to the question of whether the APC is intimidated by Obi’s followers. We are not sitting on our arms, so we are not in danger. We established this task force to encourage young participation.
“The APC youth wing is ready to roar like a lion, and we won’t be defeated,” it said. Another special committee that will focus on the introduction of E membership for the APC youth wing will be established next week. By the grace of God, we’re going to begin enrolling young people in our party’s youth wing.
“Since we are all approaching the 2023 elections as winners, we are all in a winning attitude. We are confident that Senator Bola Tinubu, who is running for president, and the other flag bearers who are standing in for our party at various levels will win thanks to the support of the more than 120 million Nigerian youth and students as well as votes from other sources like traders, bankers, educators, politicians, and so on.
