Last Thursday, five people were allegedly shot by unknown gunmen while attending a meeting in Okporo, Orlu local government area, Imo state.
Micheal Abattam, Public Relations Officer, Imo State Police Command, confirmed this to Saturday Vanguard in Owerri.
“They were having a meeting when the gunmen came and attacked them,” police said.
However, the police command had yet to say how many of them were confirmed dead and how many were shot by the unknown gunmen at the time of filing this report. However, the viral video showed at least five people with gunshot wounds, some of whom were shot in the leg and hand while screaming for help.
It was discovered that approximately two people who were lying helpless may not have survived the gunshot wounds. It also showed sympathizers who came to help the victims, including an elderly woman crying uncontrollably next to one of the victims suspected to be her son.
The woman was sobbing and pleading for assistance in getting her son to the hospital for treatment. At the same time, another gunshot victim was dragging himself and yelling for help.
The victims were all soaked in blood from gunshot wounds, as well as blood stains at the compound where they were meeting.
