Aluko Gold, a well-known comedian from Nigeria who goes by the stage name Diva Gold, has acknowledged that she started performing skits because she was having problems getting movie roles.
Diva Gold stated that the producers made it tough because they required sex from her in her explanation of the actual reasons she wasn’t hired in any movies.
Gold admitted as much in a chat with Sunday Scoop, adding, “I diverted to sketch creation since it wasn’t easy landing cinema employment without succumbing to s3xual advances here and there, especially as a woman. As a result, I thought about writing a play to showcase my acting skills, and I praise God for His provision thus far.
“I was inspired to become an actress by my childhood. When I was younger, I used to binge-watch soap operas and get motivated by the acting prowess of the characters. As I grew older, I joined the theater group at my church, which provided me with a stage on which to develop and refine my acting skills.
“As a result, I decided to go all in and follow this professional path during my time in college. In the well-known Jenifa’s Diary, I portrayed Omolade, Sege’s sister. I’ve also performed as an actor in other movies.
She said, “I will say it’s God’s grace honestly, because there are so many ladies with bigger curves, and there are also people with no curves who have made it far, when asked if having a voluptuous form had given her more opportunities in the profession. I will therefore assert that God’s grace and my acting prowess have opened up opportunities for me and will continue to do so.
