In the lead-up to the 2023 general election, Mr. Macaroni, a well-known Nigerian comedian and sketch writer, objected to the ethnic politics utilized against some non-native citizens of Lagos state.
The comedian revealed in a tweet that, despite having lived his entire childhood in Ogun State, where he was born, he was actually born in Lagos.
Mr. Macaroni then questioned whether those asking non-natives to leave the state or abstain from running for office there were in fact from Lagos.

My state of Origin is Ogun. I was born and bred in Lagos. I have lived all my life in Lagos. Why are u suddenly asking me to go back to Ogun state? How many of you asking us to leave Lagos are even originally from Lagos? The election will come and go, But the people will remain!
