In order to rig Saturday’s governorship election in favor of their favoured candidate, certain politicians and state governors allegedly paid security agents and election officials, according to information provided by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The group claimed that politicians had hired some political thugs to stir up trouble in the Southeast before of Saturday’s election.

But, IPOB issued a warning that any political thug found on Saturday instigating unrest in the Southeast would be dealt with.

The calm environment the Southeast had during the presidential election must be maintained for the governorship race, IPOB spokesman Emma Powerful cautioned.

Powerful released the following statement: “The intelligence reports acquired by our M.Branch revealed that some dishonest elements hired by politicians have plotted to trigger a political disturbance in Some areas of the South East on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

“We challenge these political thugs to incite violence in any area of Biafraland, especially the South East, and test their resolve by seeing if they are sorry or not. You will be accountable for your own actions if you are discovered by IPOB Volunteers.

“Any politician and their political thugs must not disturb the peace and serenity seen in the South East during their Presidential Selection process for any reason at all, as both will be held accountable.

Most importantly, the same intelligence report revealed that dishonest politicians, particularly corrupt governors, had paid Nigerian Security Agencies and INEC personnel to rig the next Saturday elections in favor of their chosen candidates.

“We warn those tainted Security Agents and INEC officials in Biafraland to bury such thoughts because our intelligence is watching them and there will be consequences if they dare to undermine the will of the people,” the statement reads.
