When selecting the finest defenders in Premier League history, Chelsea icon John Terry has retaliated against Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand for naming Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Manchester United hero Jaap Stam ahead of him.

While appearing on his YouTube show ‘Between the Lines,’ Ferdinand named himself first, followed by Nemanja Vidic (second), Van Dijk (third), and Stamp (fourth) ahead of Terry (fifth).

On the broadcast, the 43-year-old was debating with Van Dijk who he considered as the top center-backs in Premier League history.

After being ranked third, Van Dijk expressed his displeasure, saying, “I’ve only won one Premier League!” to which Ferdinand responded, “Yeah, I know, but I think the impact you have on the team is more important.”

“In terms of his tenure at that club, what they won, body on the line, a far better footballer than people give him credit for, could play off his left and right foot,” Ferdinand said of Terry.

Terry, on the other hand, was clearly dissatisfied with his position in Ferdinand’s rankings.

Terry responded to Ferdinand on Instagram by claiming that he should be far higher on the list.

The former Aston Villa assistant manager shared a series of images on his Instagram account to justify his viewpoint, including the number of times he was named to the World XI and the fact that his victory percentage was higher than any other defender.

Terry then added the following to his response: “Opinions are wonderful, but data aren’t” lie.
