Bill Gates says conspiracy theories about him are “insane” and being shouted at in public is “terrible” in a wide-ranging interview with the BBC’s Today program. He also tells Mishal Husain of the BBC that meeting Jeffrey Epstein was a “mistake,” and he discusses Elon Musk’s recent public criticism of him.
Bill Gates was once the richest man on the planet. Elon Musk now holds the position. However, the two men do not get along.
Mr. Musk accused Mr. Gates of “shorting” Tesla stock last week, a method of profiting by betting on a company’s decline in value. Mr. Musk has also made snide remarks about Mr. Gates on Twitter.
Mr Musk has suggested that Mr Gates’ environmental generosity is undermined by shorting Tesla, an electric car manufacturer.
When asked directly if he had bet against Tesla, Mr. Gates said: “This has nothing to do with global warming. I know how to diversify.”
Mr Gates responds, “He doesn’t have to be polite to me.”
