A disc jockey named Famotemi Toluwani Timothy has been seized by EFCC officials for allegedly copying the divisive hip-hop performer Habeeb Okikiola, commonly known as Portable.
Timothy, an Igede-Ekiti native who resides in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, is charged with impersonating the musician by setting up a phony Instagram account called “Zazu Omolalomi Portable.”
The suspect met Adebayo Adedimeji Lukman, the proprietor of a club in Offa, Kwara State, on social media and identified himself as Portable, according to Wilson Uwajuaren, the EFCC’s head of media and publicity. He consented to perform for N1 million at the club, with 80% of the payment due up ahead.
Reports state that the victim transferred $790,000 into a bank account the suspect provided for her.
However, the self-described Portable was absent at the celebration earlier this year. The victim’s access to all lines of contact was then cut off.
