“Don’t make the same error we did when we labeled the PDP as Ndigbo’s political foe.” -Ohanaeze Issues a Warning to the APC Ahead Of The Presidential Primaries

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has been warned not to ‘play jamboree with the unity of Nigeria,’ according to the Ohanaeze Youth Council.

Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, the group’s national president, issued the statement following the APC’s acceptance of Ahmad Lawan as their consensus presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election.

“As President Muhammadu Buhari, who is from the north, is nearing the end of his term, a successor president must come from the south,” Igboayaka said.

Igboayaka argued that the party’s presidential candidate should come from the South East, claiming that “the southeast zone has not produced a president for nearly 57 years” of the country’s existence.

“The only justice, fairness, and equity in Nigeria is for the APC presidential ticket to be moved to the South East, not the North East,” he says.

“Sen Lawan’s presidency, which has been championed by some stupid South-East lawmakers, is unquestionably a national calamity.” Those on the perilous and lonely path of ceding the presidency to any zone other than the southeast should reconsider.”

If the South East is denied the presidency in 2023, he cautioned, the Igbo have no place in Nigeria’s superstructure.

“If the APC presidential ticket is handed to any other zone other than the South East,” he says, “Ndigbo have no business remaining in a country marked by injustice, marginalization, and hatred against Southeasterners.”

“Those who want to drive the South East out of Nigeria must act quickly. Those who want the southeast to remain a part of Nigeria should provide the APC’s presidential ticket to the region.

“We have identified the PDP as Ndigbo’s most vehement political foe, and Igbo youths have sworn to give the party a lesson.” If the APC commits the same error by denying the southeast a presidential ticket, we will deliver them a history lesson.”

He urged presidential contenders from the South West and South-South to back Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.
