Nigerian singer Cynthia Ikponmwenosa Morgan aka Madrina took to social media to appeal to veteran actor Pete Edochie following a video of him shaking hands with Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ife’s Ooni.

The trending clip captured Pete Edochie, who holds the post of frontman, along with a number of Nollywood stars at an event that Ooni of Ife was invited to.

Pete walked up to the Yoruba king and shook his hand in the traditional Igbo way, a move that sparked controversy online.

In consideration, Cynthia Morgan, via her Instagram Story, praised Pete for upholding Igbo traditions while exchanging fun with Ooni.

However, the music star accused the movie veteran of disregarding the traditions and beliefs of other tribes.

Citing one example, Morgan shared her personal encounter with Pete in 2016 in Okrika, Porthacourt, where she claimed that the actor, a man of title, forced her had to greet him (Osiba), which was against its tradition.

According to her, as a Beninese woman, giving an Igbo man with a title like Pete Edochie an Osiba was taboo for her, but the veteran forced her to do it against her will. thus not respecting the traditions of Beninese.

She writes;

“I like the fact that Pete edochie’s tradition is being respected today and I hope he learns to respect other peoples traditions too moving forward.

I.E That Benin Women cannot give a common or a titled ibo man an “osiba” for no just reason. Unlike when he forced me to give him an osiba in 2016 in okrika precisely. Cheers”
