Chidera Ejuke, a forward for the Super Eagles, has stopped his CSKA Moscow contract as he nears completion of a loan move to Hertha Berlin.

This was confirmed by the Russian team in a statement published on their website.

However, CSKA disapproved of FIFA’s rules, which Ejuke used as an excuse to act.

“Striker Chidera Ejuke and midfielder Arnor Sigurdsson have suspended their respective contracts with PFC CSKA until June 30, 2023, using the temporary employment restrictions that were granted by The Bureau of the FIFA Council.

“PFC CSKA regrets the choice made by the players, which was made in spite of the club’s efforts and their contractual obligations. PFC CSKA intends to file actions to protect its interests against FIFA’s decision, which we regard to be discriminatory and contradictory, as was previously reported.

FIFA has granted special authorization for foreign players to quit their clubs in Russia.

This comes after the continuous conflict in Eastern Europe and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
