Chelsea is on the verge of sealing their first summer transfer window signing.
Jules Kounde of Sevilla is close to joining Chelsea this summer, according to transfer guru Andreas Korssund.
Chelsea will complete talks with Sevilla in the coming days, following the UK Government’s approval of Todd Boehly’s consortium’s purchase of the West London club on Wednesday.
The Blues are prepared to pay the required fee for Kounde’s signature, according to the report.
Kounde is thought to have already agreed on personal terms and is just waiting for Chelsea to finalize a deal with Sevilla.
This season, Kounde has appeared 32 times for Sevilla in La Liga.
He was instrumental in the Spanish giants maintaining the greatest defensive record in the league, and his remarkable performances drew Chelsea’s attention.
It’s no secret that Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will need to strengthen his defensive line this summer in order to replace Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, who have both left the club.
Meanwhile, football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Twitter about Koundé, saying, “Koundé has been top of the list for Chelsea for months.” He’s seen as a serious option, and the player would relish a move to the Premier League. €80 million release clause.”
“Chelsea will make a strong push to sign Koundé, as they have been working on it for a long time… “The strategy hasn’t altered.”
