Arnaut Danjuma, a star for Villarreal who is being pursued by Manchester United, has revealed what Red Devils striker Cristiano Ronaldo said to him after the two clubs’ 2017–18 UEFA Champions League match.
Danjuma had a strong season for LaLiga team Villarreal, scoring 16 goals in 34 games.
The 25-year-old was a member of Unai Emery’s team that lost 2-1 to Manchester United in the Champions League in September, with Ronaldo scoring the game-winning goal in the 95th minute at Old Trafford to break Villarreal’s hearts.
Danjuma, who was impressed during the Champions League match, has since stated that Ronaldo, whom he referred to as his idol, advised him to keep playing because he was having a good game.
There are many heroes, but Cristiano Ronaldo was always my favorite. He’s been one of my heroes forever, Danjuma said on the Freshly Grounded YouTube channel.
“We swapped clothes in the dressing room at Old Trafford, and that’s when I also had a little conversation with him.
“Very excellent game, man, keep going,” he remarked as he turned to face me. It’s just little things like that; they have a great impact.
