The appointment of Ahmed Abubakar Audi as the new Commander-General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

It was reported that Audi’s appointment followed the retirement of Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu from service.

The President’s acceptance of both appointments was confirmed by the Minister of the Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, in a series of tweets via the official Twitter account of the Ministry on Thursday, 18 February.

So according Aregbesola, the Nigerian leader also approved the appointment of Haliru Nababa as the new General Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).

A statement signed by Mohammed Manga, Director of the Interior Ministry of the Press, noted that Audi had emerged as the top best candidate out of those who had gone through the selection process.

Meanwhile, Nababa’s appointment is subject to approval by the Senate in compliance with the terms of the latest Nigerian Correctional Service Act 2019.
