“Jingle Bells” is one of the most well-known and widely performed American songs in the world. It was written by James Lord Pierpont (1822-1893) and published as “One Horse Open Sleigh” in the autumn of 1857. It has been reported that it was originally created for a Sunday school choir; however, historians argue that it was far too “racy” (and secular) to be sung by a children’s church choir in the days when it was written.

The well-enchanted song is his most recent offering after releasing earlier songs this year.

Hopefully, the widespread acceptance of this record will propel the Afro-classic crooner to new heights.

LYRICS

[Verse 1]
Dashing through the snow
On a one horse open sleigh
O’er the fields we go,
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tail ring,
making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

[Verse 2]
Now the ground is white
Go it while you’re young
Take the girls tonight
And sing this sleighing song
Just get a bob tailed bay
two-forty as his speed
Hitch him to an open sleigh
And crack! you’ll take the lead

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
Jingle all the way!
Oh, What fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh.

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
Jingle all the way!
Oh, What fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh.

Oh, What fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh.
