
Big Zulu, born Siyabonga Nene, is a South African rapper, songwriter, and actor. He became famous after releasing the song “Donsa Nkabi” in 2016.
Nene Siyabonga was born on April 7, 1987, in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal. He was influenced by the music of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Phuzekemisi, and Imithente, among others, since he grew up listening to Maskandi and Isichathamiya.
After a period working as a cab driver, Zulu chose to leave in 2008 to focus on his music career. Back to the City hosted a rap battle contest in 2009, and he was named “King of Rap” for his songwriting and performance. In 2016, he released his first single, “Donsa Nkabi.”
